General Race Procedures

RULE BOOK DISCLAIMER

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official.

The race director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such altercation of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.

GENERAL RULES

  1. The rules and/or regulations set forth herein do not express or imply warranty of safety, from publication of, or, compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct and are in no way a guarantee against injury to participants. By entering or competing at the facility, you are agreeing to the terms of these and any other posted rules.
  2. Rule and procedure changes may be made at any time with or without prior notice.
  3. Management reserves the right to reject or allow the entry of any car, driver, or person for any reason.
  4. No intoxicating beverages, narcotics, or illegal substances are to be consumed and/or used during any event, by anyone, entering the pit area.
  5. Verbal or physical abuse of any official or other entrant on premises, is, strictly prohibited. Fighting on premises at any time will subject offender(s) to possible suspension & ejection.
  6. Officials must be immediately notified of any car or driver change. Any changes will result in the driver and car starting at the tail of the next race they were eligible to start. Not notifying officials of a driver change is grounds for disqualification.
  7. Drivers earn starting positions in races, cars do not. A driver may switch cars and start on the tail of a race he is eligible. However, a driver may not allow another driver to drive their car unless that driver was already eligible for that race.
  8. All decisions of scoring judges & officials are final.
  9. Drivers, owners, and/or crew members have no claims against management or any official due to disqualification or damage to driver or equipment resulting in an altercation arising from unsportsmanlike conduct on behalf of drivers, owners, and/or crew members.
  10. Anyone bringing legal action against the speedway, management, and/or officials will be suspended indefinitely.
  11. Whenever it is deemed dangerous, unsafe, or unjustified to continue any racing event, it may be stopped at any point by the discretion of management.
  12. Per given race night, race cars must claim 1 class only, however, a driver my drive in more than 1 class with certain exceptions.
  13. In all divisions, officials reserve the right to check any car, driver, or hauler at any time for rule violations, including before and after races.  Any driver unwilling, or car unable, to perform the requested inspections is subject to disqualification and/or suspension.
  14. Every year you must file a completed registration form and an IRS form W-9 returned to management.
  15. All pit entrants must sign a voluntary waiver & release from liability & indemnity agreement, and pay for and receive an authorized pit pass.
  16. Make absolutely sure you keep your authorized pit pass and/or ticket. In the event of a rain-out. It is the only means by which you will be allowed admittance on the rescheduled date. Your signature on pit sheets, or “don’t you remember me?”, Is not acceptable to gain re-admittance!
  17. Anyone caught illegally entering pits & cannot produce an authorized pit pass will be immediately ejected from track and barred from returning to future events. Management reserves the right to ask for proof of admission at any time. Management also reserves the right to pursue legal action against anyone trespassing anywhere on speedway property.
  18. Pay-off procedure: Pay off is by check and is after the races at the registration booth. Only owner and/or driver may pick up any prize monies. Be prepared to show a valid driver’s license or some other form of I.D. If you are asked.
  19. Prize monies left unclaimed or checks not cashed after 90 days will become the property of Florence Speedway.
  20. The management reserves the right due to inclement weather conditions and/or any unforeseen conditions, to make changes in the posted pay-off structure. You will be notified as soon as possible if this condition arises.
  21. Raceceivers are mandatory in all divisions at all times.
  22. A scoring transponder is required on all cars at all times.
  23. Any ties in championship points will be considered a tie with the two(or more drivers) splitting any cash prizes evenly. Any ties for prizes or provisionals that cannot be split will be determined by coin flip held by Management.
  24. Due to insurance regulations, 4 wheelers are only permitted in the pit and infield area. They are NOT allowed in the parking lots or any other areas of the track. Also, 4 wheelers may only be operated by persons 16 years of age or older.
  25. Provisionals: Provisional starters may be added to certain events as decided by speedway officials. Drivers are eligible for one Speedway provisional per racing season. Once they have used their provisional start, they are not eligible for any further provisionals that season. Provisional starters will be chosen using attendance and the current point standings in that division. To be eligible for a provisional, a driver must have been present and have attempted to compete at every event, INCLUDING NON POINTS RACES, in their division during the season in question. The highest driver among eligible drivers in the point standings at the beginning of the event will be given first choice to use their provisional. If they choose not to use it, they retain the use of their provisional for another event and the provisional choice will move to the next eligible driver. In the event of a tie in points, a coin flip will determine first choice. Drivers can miss one race and still be eligible for a provisional, however, they cannot compete at another track on the same night as the event they missed. Any drivers using the one race exemption will be given the option to use a provisional an an event only after all perfect attendance drivers have either used or passed on their provisional. Certain events may require modification of the provisional rules.
  26. Season Points Awards: To be eligible for any Season or Post-Season Awards including points funds, contingency programs, trophies, participation awards, or other awards, a driver must have been present at and have attempted to compete in at least 75% of all events for their division for the race season including non-points events. A driver who does not meet this criteria will maintain their point standing for any relevant category, but will not receive any relevant awards.

General Format and Procedures:

  • Drivers register and draw at Pit Registration Booth.
  • Registering on MyRacePass and filling out a W9 are mandatory. You will not be able to draw if we do not have these on file. You will also not get paid. Checks will be wrote to the person listed as the car owner on the registration form. This is also the person who receives the 1099 in the offseason. Providing a name and address that do not match the SS#/Tax ID of the person claiming the taxes will result in the 1099 being kicked back to us by the IRS and will have future consequences to the team. If a driver changes car owners during the season, they must fill out a new registration form and inform track officials at the registration booth prior to a race night starting. Once a check is cashed, there will be no changes to who receives the 1099 for that amount. You can register HERE.
  • Lineups and nightly race format posted at board by fuel tanks.
  • Cars line up for hot laps at turn 3 track entrance. Only one session per driver. Cars must hot lap with their heat race group. If they are not at the gate when their group goes out, they forfeit their hot laps.
  • Heats lined up by draw.
  • Feature and Consi Lineups determined by Passing Points.(See Passing Points sheet for details)
  • We have a “Two Spin Rule” for most races. Any car bringing out two cautions is black flagged for that race. Cars involved in multi-car accidents may get exemptions depending on the circumstances. We also consider whether the driver caused the caution through no fault of their own. For Sport Mods, due to excessive cautions over the course of multiple seasons, there is a “One Spin Rule” in place.
  • Raceceivers and Transponders are mandatory every time you go on the track.
  • Transponder locations:
    • Late Model and Crate: Left front where the frame and downtube meet.
    • Mod and Sport Mod: Right side at the motor plate.
    • Hornet and Crown Vic: Rear axle area.
    • For the rental transponders, they need to be attached so that nothing is between the transponder and the ground.
  • We score using a transponder loop that is located at the flag stand. A lap is completed once the leader crosses the line. In the event of a caution, we will line up those who had crossed the line before the caution, then revert to the previous lap(or initial lineup) for all cars who did not cross before the caution. Caution point is when the computer is tripped. There may be some lag between this and when the caution flag or caution light are triggered.
  • These procedures may be modified on certain events.

On-Track Rules:

  • All regular show events in all divisions will have a one minute per lap time limit starting with the initial green flag. Once the time limit is passed, the race will be allowed to continue until there is a caution flag or the race is completed. If a caution occurs, the race will be given one chance at a “green-white-checkered” finish. If another caution comes out, the race will be considered completed at that point.
  • Initial starts are double file. There are two cones exiting turn 4. The pole sitter can fire anywhere between the two cones. It is the outside pole sitter’s responsibility to stay with the pole sitter. Firing before the pole sitter counts as a jump. If the pole sitter fires before the first cone that also counts as a jump. Pulling ahead of the field when we are trying to form up to go green can also be considered a jump. Two jumps and you will be moved back a row.
  • Restarts are single file(Late Model feature is Delaware double file up until 5 laps to go). Leader can fire anywhere in turn 4.
  • On the third complete, “non-jumping” restart of any race, the field may be put in single file order.
  • Passing before the first cone exiting turn 4 on a restart will result in a 2 position penalty at the next caution or finishing order.
  • If you go to the infield for any reason, you cannot return to the track while under green. You must wait until the next caution. If you go to the outer pit area during a race, you cannot return to the track until your next event.
  • Under a red flag, there is no working on cars on the track. Cars will be allowed to go to infield for work, but will be dropped to the tail when they return to the track.
  • Any crews in the infield must remain in the center of the infield during any green flag laps. Officials reserve the right to black flag any cars whose crews violate this rule.
  • We do not pull sheet metal, nor do we give courtesy laps for flats. Our responsibility is to keep the program moving for the fans, so we will not hold the show up in those circumstances.
  • If you stop on the track, you go to the tail. This includes spinning out to avoid a wreck or spinning after the caution is already out. We consider stopping to be anywhere you lose forward momentum. Keeping your tires spinning while your car is facing backwards on the track is considered losing forward momentum. (Note: In a Red Flag situation or if officials determine the track was blocked, officials reserve the right to revert to previous lap or initial start.)
  • NEVER TURN RIGHT OFF THE BACK STRETCH TO GO TO THE OUTER PIT AREA. Always go into the infield first to exit the track.
  • At the completion of any race, cars need to decelerate off 2 and exit the track to the infield on the backstretch. Cars going to the scales cross across the middle of the infield.
  • The scales are located inside turn 1. After heat races, all cars scale. After features, top 5 scale.
