Annual Awards Cermony date set |
With our 2017 season behind us and preperations already underway for the 2018 season, we have one more piece of business to complete to close out this year, and that is our annual awards ceremony where we recognize our track champions and other top drivers. This year, the ceremony will be held on Friday December 15th and will once again be at the Hilton Cincinnati Airport on Turfway Road in Florence. This date is a departure from the normal January date for the ceremony, but was necessary due to renovations scheduled for the Hotel. We know this will lead to conflicts for some atendees due to other events, but this was the best date we had access to. The Hilton has been a great partner for Florence Speedway and we hope to return to our normal January date next year. More info on the ceremony is available on the schedule page at florencespeedway.com |
Work has begun on our 2018 schedule |
Speedway officials are already working on our 2018 schedule and are able to announce a few select dates at this time. Our season will open with the 42nd Annual Spring 50 on March 10th. The 32nd Ralph Latham Memorial will once again be a $12,000 to win Lucas Oil Series event and be held on May 5th. The 36th Annual Sunoco North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil weekend will once again open with the North/South Shootout on Thursday August 9th. The event will then follow the same format as past years with passing points heat races on Friday August 10th and the $50,000 to win 100 lap finale on August 11th. We will close our season as always with our annual Fall 50 on October 27th. More dates will be added in the coming weeks. We expect to post our full 2018 schedule in January. |
New division coming to Florence Speedway in 2018 |
Florence Speedway is excited to announce that we will be adding a new division for the 2018 season as the Sport Mods will be making their debut. Sport Mods are a more econmical version of our regular modified division. They feature rules that restrict the engines and suspensions in the cars to help reduce costs. The division has been growing rapidly at other tracks in the area as racers seek options that are more affordable. The rules will be a mixture of the UMP Pro-Modified and AMRA Sport Mod Rules with allowances for the 602 crate engine, but keeping the cars that race at other local tracks legal. We are still working on a final rules package, but hope to be able to post them in the coming weeks.
Unfortunately, to add a division, that also means another division must be retired. In this case, that means the the Pure Stocks will not be returning to the speedway in 2018. The Pure Stocks have been a good class for the speedway over the years, but car counts have been dwindling to the point that it was no longer a sustainable division. While this was a difficult decision, it was necessary for the long term health of the speedway. |
2018 Sponsorship Opportunities Available |
We are already looking for companies who are interested in advertising with us for the 2018 season. We can do packages that incorporate signage, billboards, website advertising, mailer advertising, company outings at the track, company titled race nights, division sponsorships, T-shirt and other giveaways, or we can customize sponsorship ideas to fit your needs. We can work with sponsors with most any budget from companies who only want to spend as little as $200 up to corporations with advertising budgets in the thousands. |
If you are interested in seeing what other opportunities are available, contact Josh King at jking@florencespeedway.com or Jennifer King at jennifer@florencespeedway.com for more info. (Note: All information above is believed to be accurate at time of posting, but may be adjusted due to weather, attendance, or management’s discretion.) |
