This Week’s Event |
We are back to racing this Saturday at Florence Speedway as we proudly present the Race To Recovery Fan Appreciation Night with Renew Ministries. Our area has been recently clouded by the sadness of addiction and the overwhelming danger to our families. This epidemic knows no boundaries of race or economic status. We all have been touched by this in some way. Florence Speedway is honored to stand with them to raise awareness and offer some help and hope to those needing it. Please bring your families and stand with us as we raise awareness for the possibility of recovery and love. Renew Ministries, the proud sponsor of this event, is asking for your help. They are asking everyone to bring canned goods to donate to their cause and help restock their pantry. These goods will go to feeding those who need help the most as we enter the Winter months. |
Not only are we all helping a good cause, we got to do it on one of our most popular nights of the year! On this night we give some back to the fans who make this all possible. We offer a complete racing program for only $10 and as the highlight of the evening, at intermission, we bring the cars and drivers to the infield then let the fans come down as well. They can meet their favorite drivers, get autographs, and see the cars up close. The drivers get in on the action as well with many having autograph cards made specially for the event and also have other things to give away. Because of the extra activities, we do start 30 minutes earlier than normal with hot laps starting at 5:30 and racing at 6:30. It really is an event you don’t want to miss! On the racing side of things, we will have complete programs for our Late Model, Slicker Graphics Modified, Phoenix Comfort Systems Crate, G&G Express Sport Mod, and Hornet divisions! Also, we will have the make up Feature for the Phoenix Comfort Systems Crates from August 25th. |

Division sponsors for 2018 announced |
We are pleased to announce that Slicker Graphics has returned as the title sponsor for our Modified division here at Florence Speedway. The Slicker Graphics Modifieds are one of our top divisions and produces some of the best racing at the track. The matchup with the division and Slicker Graphics is a natural one as many of the cars that compete in the division weekly are Slicker Graphics customers. Slicker Graphics is a proud member of the racing community and a sponsor of many of the cars you see on the track every week. They are a local based company that specializes in providing first-class motorsports wraps at an affordable price as well as commercial services to businesses and individuals across the tristate region. Don’t forget that whether it’s at the racetrack, at home, or when you are simply talking about race wraps – “The Slicker the Better!”For more info on Slicker Graphics check out their website at www.theslickerthebetter.com, on Facebook and Twitter @slickergraphics.We are also happy to announce that Phonix Comfort Systems has stepped up to become the title sponsor for our Crate division. Now known as the Phoenix Comfort Systems Crates, the division features a more economical version our Late Models that has quickly grown as a popular option among the racers. Phoenix Comfort Systems is a Florence, KY based company that provides a full range of air conditioning and heating repair, installation, and maintenance services for residential and commercial customers. They keep your air conditioning and heating systems in their best condition and ready to go when you need them most, following the industry’s “best practice” methods and standards. For more info on Phoenix Comfort Systems, check out their website at http://www.phoenixcomfort.com or give them a call at (859)918-5400.Last, but not least, G&G Express has come on board and has done so in a big way. G&G Express will be the title sponsor for our newest division, the Sport Mods. The G&G Express Sport Mods are similar to our regular Slicker Graphics Modified division cars but with rules in place to help keep the cost down. In addition to being the title sponsor, G&G Express, in conjunction with another speedway sponsor, L&M Performance, have decided to raise the stakes in the championship points battle. In addition to the money and prizes they would normally receive, the 2018 G&G Express Sport Mod track champion will also receive a free Badfast modified chassis! To be eligible, a driver does have to compete in all G&G Express Sport Mod events at the speedway in 2018. G&G Express is a full service transportation and logistics company that can handle all your shipping needs. Established in 2008, they specialize in flatbed loads. They also have a full brokerage division that includes cargo vans, box truck, 53 foot vans, and over dimensional size loads. Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race Challenge |
We at Florence Speedway are excited to announce that the Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race challenge is returning for the 2018 season. We and Sunoco Race Fuels have teamed up for a program to reward drivers who race here weekly. The Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race Challenge will reward drivers who run well in their heat races and run Sunoco Race Fuel products. The twist to this program is that where, in most cases, drivers in different divisions can not compete against each other, in the Sunoco Race Fuels Heat Race Challenge, the eligible drivers will be competing head to head! That’s right, the Late Models, Slicker Graphics Modifieds, Phoenix Comfort Systems Crates and G&G Express Sport Mods are all competing for the same prize. At the end of the season, the top point earner will gain a $500 prize from Sunoco, and everyone in the top 10 will receive cash awards. For more details check out the program info page on our website. At the track, we currently offer Sunoco HCR+ 114 Octane, Supreme 112 Octane, 260 GT Plus 104 Octane Unleaded Crate Fuel for sale by the gallon. We also have access to drums of each of the above and all of Sunoco’s fuels. If anyone is interested in purchasing a drum, just ask at our fuel sales area. Purchase of any of the above qualifies you for the Sunoco Heat Race challenge bonuses. The Sunoco Heat Race challenge begins on March 31st. |
Transponders now mandatory |
In 2015, Florence Speedway installed a transponder scoring system at the track. Transponders are devices attached to the cars that allow for electronic scoring of the races. This allows for quicker turnarounds in cautions and more accurate scoring of the races. Transponders are already in use at many tracks and by many series across the country and are becoming the standard method of scoring in auto racing. We have transponders available for rent or for sale at the track at our new registration building. Transponders are now mandatory in all divisions. |

New Policies in place for 2018 |
Florence Speedway management wants to take this opportunity to inform our customers of some new policies that will be in place this season. During discussions with lawyers from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, we have been informed of the following state law: |
KRS 243.020(4) provides, “[a] licensee shall not permit any consumer to possess, give away, or drink alcoholic beverages on the licensed premises that are not purchased from the licensee.” |
To simplify, this means that customers can not bring any alcohol(beer, wine, or liquor) into the stands, pit areas, or concession areas of the speedway. As this is a state law, this is non-negotiable and there are no exceptions. To comply with this our gate policy at most events will be changed to be: |
No carry in or out of alcohol. One cooler 14″ X 14″ X 14″ max allowed. Coolers, bags, and other items may be searched at any time. Food and non-alcoholic drink are permitted. No glass bottles allowed. |
We are looking into our options to expand what beers and other alcohols we have available for sale at the track. If you would like to see something specific carried, let us know at the track or send us a message. We are willing to carry anything that there is enough interest in. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, but we really do not have a lot of choice in this matter. |
2018 Sponsorship Opportunities Available |
We are currently looking for companies who are interested in advertising with us for the 2018 season. We can do packages that incorporate signage, billboards, website advertising, mailer advertising, company outings at the track, company titled race nights, division sponsorships, T-shirt and other giveaways, or we can customize sponsorship ideas to fit your needs. We can work with sponsors with most any budget from companies who only want to spend as little as $200 up to corporations with advertising budgets in the thousands. |
If you are interested in seeing what other opportunities are available, contact Josh King at jking@florencespeedway.com or Jennifer King at jennifer@florencespeedway.com for more info. |
